Through this 90-minute interactive program you will learn some of the basic principles of design thinking to start using for your personal and professional goals. Whether you want to start a business, invent a new product, or improve a service design thinking helps you identify the needs, create a plan, and develop a prototype to test your ideas.

Alexis Smith Macklin, PhD is the Dean of the Library at Purdue University, Fort Wayne, with more than a decade of experience in library administration. She is an expert in human-centered design specifically for change management and strategic planning, and is known internationally for her work on emotional intelligence and information literacy. Prior to her work in higher education, she was a professionally trained ballet dancer (proving that sometimes life doesn’t go the way you expect it to, and that’s OK).

Tony Macklin, CAP® consults with donor families, grantmakers, and their advisors about purpose, use of resources, action planning, and learning. He previously served as executive director of the Roy A. Hunt Foundation in Pittsburgh, in multiple roles at the Central Indiana Community Foundation, and as a program coordinator for a state community economic development agency. He is a senior advisor with the Impact Finance Center in Colorado, associate with the national firm Ekstrom Alley Clontz, and consultant with the National Center for Family Philanthropy. He’s volunteered for more committees, task forces, and boards than he can remember.
